Baby Snapping Turtle Relocated After Close Encounter In Bethel
|
Our new found friend, Howie, was found traipsing the aisles in a convenient store just off Howe Hill in Bethel, VT. It was at this same time that Sue Skaskiw stumbled upon the young snapping turtle (only one inch long), unaware as to how he had found his way into the store. Adam Steinberg, a long time animal advocate, aided in the relocation of Howie to his natural habitat - another rescue in the books!
"The turtle was released on land 12 inches from the water. He immdediately tumbled right towards the pond. When he immersed himself completely, he sort of turned sideways, stopped paddling and looked up at me :)." I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as theynow look upon the murder of men. Leonardo da Vinci |
